This course has been designed to introduce learners to social justice concepts relating to the profession of Child and Youth Care. Using a social justice lens, learners will reflect on historical, social, and political trends and treatment of children and youth and develop skills that promote advocacy by ensuring care is culturally sensitive, non-discriminatory, and in a context of respect and collaboration.
Upon successful completion of the course Child & Youth Community-Based Care: Inclusivity Through Social Justice, the learner will earn a microcredential. A visual representation of the microcredential is issued to the learner as a digital badge. The learner can share the digital badge on a resume, LinkedIn profile, e-portfolio, or other digital network allowing employers to see what the learner can do as it shows evidence of the assessed competencies.
Note: If the learner has prior knowledge that is equivalent to some or all of the competencies for this microcredential, they may be a good candidate for Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR). See details on the program page.
