We know that navigating through College can be challenging sometimes. Our Indigenous Student Success Coach team can serve as your first point of contact to respond to inquiries and connect you with services and support.

Nitap Mentor Program

Connect with an ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Nitap Mentor! Nitap Mentors can offer support and guidance, answer questions about cultural support and student services available on campus and in your community, and share their experiences as Indigenous learners.

Nitap means 'friend' in Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik languages.

Indigenous Student Success Coaches

Indigenous Student Success Coaches are here to support Indigenous students in their learning journey at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ and to assist in accessing the many support and services that ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ has to offer.

Indigenous Student Success Coaches serve as:

  • A liaison to Indigenous services at our six campuses.
  • A peer support, providing academic coaching, financial support (identifying bursaries, scholarships and potential funding sources) and cultural support to students and staff.
  • A host for activities throughout the year such as Elder visits, Indigenous teachings, and cultural sharing events.
  • And assist students with making connections to future employers and bridging to the workplace.

Several campuses have Indigenous Gathering Spaces. These are safe and peaceful spaces to meet other students, study, learn about Indigenous culture and more. We also have an online , all are welcome to join.

Indigenous Student Funding Options

Indigenous Students who are being sponsored by a third-party agency must submit a completed prior to their program/course start. Completed forms are to be forwarded to financials@nbcc.ca.
