ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½â€™s Applied Research and Innovation celebrates 10th anniversary

New Brunswick Community College (ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½) celebrated a decade of enriched learning, community problem-solving, and industry support at a reception to mark the 10th anniversary of its Applied Research and Innovation (ARI) department on Thursday, May 19.

Community and industry partners joined ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ staff and alumni to acknowledge the past successes and future growth of ARI, which utilizes ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ expertise, tools, and facilities to help solve technical and business problems, take advantage of market opportunities, and develop new technology and processes.

“Over the last 10 years, 2,600 ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ students and staff have been engaged in applied research projects that have advanced solutions for hundreds of businesses and community organizations,” said Mary Butler, President and CEO of ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. “From cybersecurity to healthy aging in place for seniors, applied research at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ has contributed significantly to the economic and social wellbeing of New Brunswick.”

Last year alone, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ collaborated on 95 applied research projects with 115 partners, with 57 staff and 364 students taking part.

The College has also received more applied research funding this year than ever before, at more than $3 million. These funds will help facilitate applied research in care services navigation for seniors, economic development through digital transformation, mobile and ubiquitous computing, and social innovation.
