FREDERICTON – The Board of Governors for New Brunswick Community College (ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½) has elected Mark Flint as Chair and Jill Stairs as Vice-Chair, effective July 1, 2021.
“As ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ continues to serve as an economic social catalyst for New Brunswick’s growth and resilience, the Board of Governors remains committed to its role of establishing and directing the College’s mandate,” said Flint. “I look forward to carrying on the work of our outgoing Chair Lindsay Bowman, who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and left big shoes to fill.”
Flint served more than 20 years in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), retiring in 2012 and holding senior leadership positions in private sector companies before returning to the Armed Forces’ Primary Reserve in 2020. He served as Vice-Chair of ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½’s Board of Governors for the past three years and previously sat on the TELUS World of Science – Edmonton Board of Directors.
A member of the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Board of Governors since 2018, Stairs is a partner at Daye Kelly & Associates and a proud ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ alumna. A strong advocate for her community, Stairs also serves as current Vice President of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce and was a past board member of Maritime Countryfest and Bright Beginnings Daycare.
“As ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ seeks to transform post-secondary education, the Board of Governors has an important role to play,” said Mary Butler, President and CEO of ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. “We are excited about the leadership that Mark and Jill will bring to the Board as we work together to shape the future of the College and the communities we serve.”
