ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ named one of Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers for fifth year

FREDERICTON - For the fifth year in row, New Brunswick Community College (ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½) has been named one of Atlantic Canada's Top Employers, as announced in the January edition of Atlantic Business magazine.

The editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers have included the College in its annual list of 40 organizations in the region recognized for offering exceptional places to work.

“As a College, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ strives to foster a sense of belonging and a spirit of community for all those who work and learn here,” said Mary Butler, President and CEO of ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. “We’re very pleased that Canada’s Top 100 Employers has recognized those efforts.”

In recognizing ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½, the selection committee specifically highlighted the College’s efforts to support new parents with maternity leave top-up payments (to 75 per cent of salary for 17 weeks) and the option of extending their leave into an unpaid leave of absence; its encouragement of a culture of lifelong learning through subsidies for job-related and general interest courses; and its initiative to help employees prepare for life after work with retirement planning services, defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans, and phased-in work options for those nearing retirement.

Butler thanked Canada’s Top 100 Employers and Atlantic Business magazine for its recognition of ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ as an exceptional workplace. This recognition is only possible, she acknowledged, because of the commitment and dedication of ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ employees in making the College a great place to work.

”It is our people who drive our workplace culture,” said Butler. “The sum total of their talents, experiences and passions form the vision that makes ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ a top employer.

“We spend the majority of our lives at work,” she added. “It’s important to love your work, the place that you work and the people with whom you work. We at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ are very fortunate in that regard.”

With six Campuses across New Brunswick, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ contributes to New Brunswick’s social and economic prosperity by supporting the aspirations of individual learners, seizing the opportunities of the labour market, and collaboratively solving the challenges of communities and industry.  In addition to more than 90 certificate and diploma programs, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ also provides specialized and customized training to meet the needs of specific sectors and communities.  Find out more information on ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ programs by visiting: .
