FREDERICTON—May Day was golden for Andrea Reid from New Brunswick Community College (ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½). The Career and Wellbeing Counsellor from ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½’s Woodstock Campus earned a Gold Leadership Excellence Award for Staff (Non-Managerial) from Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan). The award was presented May 1 as part of CICan’s national conference in Ottawa.
Reid was recognized both for the impact she’s had at her Campus through initiatives such as The Greenhouse Grocery Oasis, as well as across the College through her involvement in the development of the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Wellbeing App.
“Andrea’s commitment to ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ students and staff as well as her larger community is evident in all she does,” said Marilyn Luscombe, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ President and CEO. “We were thrilled to recognize her in 2016 with an ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Leadership Excellence Award and it’s wonderful to see her contributions recognized at the national level.”
This is the second significant award Reid received this year as she was earlier selected to receive the Canadian Association of Social Workers’ Distinguished Service Award for the Province of New Brunswick.
The CICan Awards of Excellence recognize and promote excellence within Canadian colleges, institutes, cégeps, university colleges and polytechnics. The Awards showcase the extraordinary contribution of individuals to their colleges and highlight
the role of our institutions in social, cultural and economic development. Canada’s extensive network of colleges and institutes serves 1.5 million learners from over 3,000 urban, rural and remote communities all over the country.
